Teaching small classes

Last month we looked at teaching large classes, but what about teachers with smaller classes? Teaching small classes has its own set of problems, and one of them is the fact that activities often finish quickly. One tip for teaching small classes is to always have a list of games or warm ups ready for when activities finish faster than you had planned. This list is also good to pull out when energy gets low and the class needs a change of activity.

Taking the time to make a list of activities or have a folder of extra games and worksheets is a must for teachers in this situation. It may take a few extra hours at the beginning of the school year, but in the end will have been well worth the trouble.
